Google has updated NotebookLM today with the ability to publicly share notebooks via links, just like Docs.
Previously, sharing a notebook involved entering a person’s email address, with the ability to set “Viewer” (read-only) or “Editor” access. Enterprise and education users have more group/internal options, while Pro (previously Plus) subscribers could share a “Chat-only” notebook to viewers.
NotebookLM now allows you to make notebooks public and share via a link. On consumer accounts, tap the Share button in the top-right corner and select the “Anyone with a link” access level. Sharing is available for notebook owners and editors, with the ability to revoke/restrict public access. (Paid subscribers will get usage analytics.)
Additionally: “Once a public notebook is deleted or made private, any previously generated public share link will no longer work.” Afterwards, a globe icon appears next to the Share button.
A Google Account is needed on the receiving end, with public notebooks appearing on your homepage (tap the overflow menu to “Remove notebook”): “You can interact with a public notebook by asking it questions or generating content, such as audio overviews, FAQs or briefing documents. You can also view studio artifacts previously generated by owners or editors.” However, you cannot edit source content.
