Honor Magic V5 teaser shows off ‘thinnest’ foldable yet

Honor is on a mission to take on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with its upcoming foldable. The company has officially released a teaser image announcing the launch date for the incredibly thin Honor Magic V5.

Honor is coming off a year where it released a record-setting foldable. The Magic V3 came in at 9.3mm thick when folded. For comparison, that’s a millimeter thicker than the Pixel 9, which is insane for a foldable phone with as much power as it has.

The company released a teaser image for the Honor Magic V5. The image shows the side of the device while closed. The power button and volume rocker are visible, and it’s evident that the Magic V5 will be incredibly thin, as well. Just how thin is anyone’s guess, but it’s likely Honor wants to one-up itself with a thinner device than the previous model.

The image touts the phone’s AI capabilities, and Honor notes that the Magic V5 will be its most powerful AI-powered device to date. What that entails is shrouded in a little bit of mystery.

Honor Magic V5 will be released on July 2

Honor also specifically pokes fun at the Galaxy Z Fold 7, noting that the Honor Magic V5 aims to take on Samsung’s latest foldable directly. The Z Fold 7 is set to be the thinnest version Samsung has ontirduced yet, if teasers are anything to go by.

Honor’s teaser image for the Magic V5 marks July 2 as the official launch date for the device. It will likely launch in China first with a global rollout soon after. The device will likely not come to the US market.
