Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s in Massachusetts on Sunday, with a mix of scattered showers and thunderstorms to streak across the region in the afternoon.
Meteorologists are predicting a partly sunny, hot and humid day before storms roll in between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
“There is a general risk of thunderstorms for pretty much the entire area,” Francis Tarasiewicz, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said on Sunday. “Just about everyone will have a risk for a thunderstorm.”
Rainfall levels are not expected to cause flooding concerns, and one or two thunderstorms are expected to move across the state, according to Tarasiewicz.
The storms could produce some damaging winds, but there is no widespread threat of significant damage, he said.
A post on X.com by the Norton office of the National Weather Service said: “Isolated damaging wind gusts are possible with a few of the strongest storms.”
Monday could see a “great improvement of weather,” Tarasiewicz said, with slightly below average temperatures in the mid to upper 70s with clear skies.
“It’ll be quite a cool Monday night into Tuesday,” he said, with temperatures dipping into the lower 50s and potentially the upper 40s.
