Randolph police cruisers crash searching for armed robbery suspect

Randolph officers were hurt after two cruisers crashed while searching for the suspect of an armed robbery at a gas station on Tuesday, Randolph police said.

At around 1:20 p.m., the department learned of an armed robbery at Prestige Gas at 1201 North Main St., Police Chief Anthony Marag said in a statement.

The suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall man with a white short-sleeve T-shirt, blue or olive colored shorts, black and white sneaker shoes, black gloves and a blue Red Sox baseball hat over a ski mask, armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, ran from the gas station on foot, Marag wrote. He also carried a light gray plastic bag.

As officers searched for the suspect, two police cruisers crashed at the intersection of Mitchell and Royal streets, Marag stated. The officers were hospitalized with various non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the robbery and the crash.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Randolph Police Department at 781-963-1212.
