Much of Massachusetts got pummeled by a snowstorm overnight, and though the onslaught ceased early Saturday morning for most of the state, some areas are still seeing snowfall.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday, most of Western Mass. and Central Mass. were in the clear, though residents may still have a lot of shoveling ahead of them. The eastern part of the state is still waiting for the snow to stop, however.
Parts of Boston are still seeing flurries that could linger until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, while the South Shore and parts of Cape Cod & the Islands could get sporadic snowfall into the early afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, not much accumulation is expected from the tail end of the storm.
Western Mass. got hit hardest by the storm, with some communities reporting 6 inches of accumulation as of Friday night. In Central Mass. the high total was 4.5 inches, while Brookline got 3.7 inches.
More precipitation is in the weekend forecast, though it is expected to take the form of freezing rain, which is expected to cover much of the state on Sunday night.
