Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, reported another quarter of sustained sales growth in its earnings statement Wednesday, with $46.7 billion in revenue, a 56% increase compared to the same period last year. That growth was largely fueled by AI-dominated data center business, which saw a 56% year-over-year increase in revenue.
Nvidia also saw its net income grow substantially since last year. The company reported a net income of $26.4 billion in the second quarter, a 59% spike since the same period last year.
All told, the company brought in $41.1 billion in revenue from data center sales in the quarter, suggesting that AI companies’ demand for cutting-edge GPUs continues to grow. The company’s most advanced generation of chips, Blackwell, accounted for $27 billion of those sales.
“Blackwell is the AI platform the world has been waiting for,” said CEO Jensen Huang in a statement accompanying the release. “The AI race is on, and Blackwell is the platform at its center.”
Huang said that the company expects to see $3 to 4 trillion in AI infrastructure spending by the end of the decade. “$3 to 4 trillion is fairly sensible for the next five years,” he told one analyst.
The company made particular note of its role in the launch of OpenAI’s open source gpt-oss models earlier this month, which involved processing “1.5 million tokens per second on a single Nvidia Blackwell GB200 NVL72 rack-scale system.”
The earnings also gave a look at Nvidia’s ongoing struggle to sell its chips in Chinese markets. The company reported no sales of its China-focused H20 chip to Chinese customers in the past quarter; Nvidia did report $650 million worth of H20 chips had been sold to a customer outside China.

The United States has long restricted sales of advanced GPUs to Chinese customers — but the geopolitical situation has changed significantly under President Trump. The company is now permitted to sell chips to China as long as it pays a 15% export tax to the U.S. Treasury, as a result of an unconventional arrangement that legal scholars have described as an unconstitutional abuse of power.
On the earnings call, Nvidia CFO Colette Kress made clear that the lack of shipment was a result of uncertainty around the arrangement, which has not been officially codified into a federal regulation. “While a select number of our China-based customers have received licenses over the past few weeks,” Kress said, “we have not shipped any H20 devices based on those licenses.”
Nvidia said it expects $54 billion in revenue in the third quarter. The company noted that its outlook for the third quarter, which could shift 2% in either direction, doesn’t include any H20 shipments to China.
Acclaim Entertainment, a big name in licensed games in the ’90s, is “returning.” (Although, much like the new Atari, this is technically a different company that bought the old trademark.) The new Acclaim will focus on publishing indie games and reviving classic franchises. We don’t know much beyond that, but we’ll learn more on September 10 in the Play Acclaim Showcase.
The company’s March announcement of its revival hinted at the resurrection of old franchises. But it’s unclear which of its classic games even could return under its umbrella. Acclaim was best known for the home console ports of NBA Jam, Double Dragon and Mortal Kombat. Other companies currently own those IPs. EA has NBA Jam, Arc System Works owns Double Dragon and Warner Bros. Games is still churning out Mortal Kombat titles. So, don’t hold your breath for those.
As far as we know, the new Acclaim doesn’t even own the rights to any of the old Acclaim’s original IPs. That includes the lesser-known Turok, Shadow Man and Re-Volt. But it’s easier to imagine those franchises being licensed or purchased than the more iconic ones.

Even without old-school revivals, Acclaim can still boost indie titles. The company says it will provide funding, marketing and PR support for smaller studios. If it elevates the right diamonds in the rough, that could have a bigger impact than yet another nostalgia bomb.

While President Donald Trump slammed the appearances of two Democratic leaders during a White House meeting on Tuesday, he claimed that the use of one word for someone in his cabinet would be “the end of my political career.”
Trump spoke to reporters during a cabinet meeting at the White House on Tuesday about transgender athletes and his recent deployments of the U.S. National Guard. Then he started to talk about U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
“And then I saw this poor, stupid Chuck Schumer, the guy, he looks like he’s aged 100 years, and I don’t like getting into looks,” Trump said, according to the Huffington Post. “You know, looks don’t mean anything, right? When you’re in politics, looks don’t matter.”
Before he called Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker a “slob,” Trump pointed at U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“Look at Pam,” Trump continued. “I would never say she’s beautiful because that’d be the end of my political career.”
While supporters and critics of the president posted online about the comment, some social media users pointed out Bondi’s handling of the “client list” of disgraced financier and convicted sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.
“Please leave Pam alone,” an anti-Trump account on X posted Wednesday. “She is very busy erasing Trump from the Epstein evidence.”

Assort Health, a startup that uses AI to automate patient communication for specialty healthcare practices, has raised about $50 million in a Series B round at a valuation of $750 million, according to three sources familiar with the deal. The latest round, which comes just four months after the company raised its $22 million Series A, was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, these sources said.
The company’s AI voice agents are designed to take over high-volume, repetitive tasks like scheduling, cancellations, and frequently asked questions normally managed by front desk staff, allowing human staff to focus on more complex or sensitive patient interactions.
Assort Health is one of several startups that recently raised new funding to use AI to alleviate patient phone call volume for medical offices.
Just last week, EliseAI, which automates customer services for real estate and healthcare office front desks, announced that it secured a $250 million Series E led by Andreessen Horowitz, valuing the company at $2.2 billion. Hello Patient, another AI-powered assistant for medical offices, raised a $20 million Series A earlier this month at a $100 million valuation led by Scale Venture Partners, according to a person familiar with the deal.
The healthcare industry is increasingly embracing AI solutions, as seen in the growing adoption of medical scribes from companies like Abridge and Ambience Healthcare. Investors are now betting that patient communication will be the next major area for AI implementation.
Since Assort Health serves small and medium specialty care offices that often have long wait times, fast responses by an AI agent may help these offices lose fewer patients to competing practices.
While Assort Health’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) is only a little more than $3 million, the company is growing quickly, according to two sources. The startup initially focused on orthopedic and physical care offices but has recently expanded its offerings to other specialties, including OB-GYN, dermatology, and dentistry.

SpaceX has successfully launched the Starship for its 10th test flight after it was delayed a couple of times due to weather conditions and other issues. This time, the company was able to achieve its objectives without the vehicle and its booster exploding mid-test. One of those objectives was deploying Starship’s payload for the first time ever. If you’ll recall, Starship exploded during its ascent stage in the company’s seventh and eighth test flights. The vehicle made it to space for its ninth test, but it failed to deploy its fake satellite payload. In June, a Starship vehicle exploded on the ground while the company was preparing it for its 10th flight test.
The company had to use another upper stage, called Ship, for the 10th flight after that explosion. It also incorporated changes into the Ship and its Super Heavy booster, based on what it learned from those previous attempts. For this test, SpaceX intended to conduct several experiments with the booster, such as flipping it and playing with engine configurations as it made its way back down. Due to the experimental nature of this test, SpaceX didn’t try to catch it with the launch tower’s chopstick arms. Instead, it made a controlled descent into the Indian Ocean, where it exploded upon making contact with the water.
Meanwhile, Ship continued flying into space. Around 20 minutes after launch, the upper stage started ejecting eight dummy Starlink satellites into space, before re-lighting one of its engines in flight as part of another test. After that, Ship started making its way back to Earth, where it also splashed down into the Indian Ocean a bit over an hour after launch. “Congratulations to all of our teammates here at SpaceX — it’s been a year,” SpaceX’s Dan Huot said during the livestream, likely pointing out that it’s been a while since the company has had a good test flight. Of course, SpaceX still has a long way to go, including having to figure out how to retrieve the vehicle’s upper stage after a flight in order for the Starship to be fully reusable.

SpaceX’s massive Starship rocket lifted off on its tenth test flight Tuesday evening, hitting two long sought milestones and putting an end to a string of failures.
The 403-foot vehicle lifted off from Starbase, SpaceX’s launch facility and recently incorporated city, at 7:30 pm ET after two scrubs earlier in this week. The rocket ascended on 33 methane-fueled Raptor engines before separating around three minutes after liftoff.
On descent, the Super Heavy booster tested out a new maneuver: intentionally shutting down the engines used for landing and transitioning to backup engines. The test will help engineers understand how the Booster might perform in the case of failure. The test appeared to go as planned, with the 232-foot-tall booster successfully making a targeted splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico.
Meanwhile, the upper stage, also called Starship, reached space. There, for the first time on a Starship flight, it opened its Pez-style payload door and released eight Starlink mass-simular satellites. This is a capability that SpaceX had planned, but failed to demonstrate on earlier missions. The company also successfully re-lit one of the Raptor engines in space before guiding the vehicle toward the Indian Ocean, where it splashed down, tipped over, and promptly exploded.
On the way down, the exterior of the Ship was exposed to incredible heat during atmospheric reentry, providing an excellent test environment for the upgraded thermal-protection system. SpaceX also used this test to try out a series of experiments, like removing tiles from sections of the Ship to see how its “skin” operates on reentry, plus a new metallic tile and an actively cooled tile.
Most importantly, however, is the upper stage completed the entire test and splashed down in the Indian Ocean without losing comms with SpaceX engineers. Durin the last flight, the Ship reached space and then lost attitude control during the coast phase, preventing the payload doors from opening. Engineers appear to have overcome those issues.
It’s a big win for SpaceX, which has repeatedly lost the Starship upper stage due to a series of technical failures during flight. The persistent issues have raised questions as to whether the rocket will be ready to land humans on the moon by mid-2027 for NASA, or when it will be capable of deploying next-gen Starlink satellites for the company.

Meta is throwing its resources behind a new super PAC in California. According to Politico, the group will support state-level political candidates who espouse tech-friendly policies, particularly those with a loose approach to regulating artificial intelligence. The budget behind the social media company’s new super PAC, dubbed Mobilizing Economic Transformation Across (Meta) California, is reported to be in the tens of millions of dollars, but no exact figure has been disclosed.
California has made several efforts, with varying degrees of success, to enact protections against potentially harmful AI use cases. The state passed a law in 2024, but has faced challenges to a bill that blocked and to one that more broadly sought caused by AI.
This creation of the super PAC puts Meta into a prominent position to influence races in 2026, when California will have midterm elections and vote for a new governor. “Sacramento’s regulatory environment could stifle innovation, block AI progress, and put California’s technology leadership at risk,” said Brian Rice, vice president of public policy at Meta. Politico reported that Rice and Meta policy executive Greg Maurer are likely to lead the political fundraiser.
Meta hasn’t been shy about throwing money into politics to advance its business interests. According to OpenSecrets, the company has spent on lobbying to date this year. Its roughly $8 million lobbying spend in the first quarter of 2025 vastly that of other tech majors.
