Not long after Apple CarPlay, Google Meet is now making its way to Android Auto, but it doesn’t support work accounts yet, which seems like a big oversight.
Google last week announced and immediately released Meet for Apple CarPlay, promising an Android Auto experience “soon.” That appears to be arriving now for some users, as the rollout has started to hit some devices. The folks over at Android Authority grabbed screenshots showing a pop-up for Android Auto support in the Meet app, though there have been no images of the actual experience on Android Auto, nor was a compatible app version shared.
Google’s pop-up describes that you can “check your schedule” in the app and “join calls.”

As far as we can tell in our testing, there’s a server-side component here. Google Meet’s latest updates (v353.x and v354.x) don’t show support Android Auto just yet. If you’re seeing support, let us know which app version you’re using in the comments below.
On a support page, Google offers a few more details around the app.
As the pop-up hints, calls on Meet for Android Auto “skip the pre-call screen,” and your video is turned off when calls are ongoing. A “Scheduled tab” will show any meetings on your calendar and let you join them. You can mute your microphone during the call, but additional features such as Hand Raise, Q&A, and Polls are disabled “to meet safety standards.” “Only the call info and controls are visible, not presentations or other participants,” Google adds. Your phone will automatically swap to the “simplified” on-the-go mode as well.
Google does explicitly confirm here that Google Meet on Android Auto does not support work accounts. Google says:
Important: Work profile accounts aren’t supported in Meet on Android Auto. Active calls will still appear on your display but upcoming meetings and call history will not show.
With Meet’s debut on CarPlay, Google said the feature would be available to “all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.” No such “work account” message can be found on the support page for the CarPlay app. It’s rather strange this limitation is in place on the Android Auto app, especially seeing as most people who would find value in a Google Meet app on their car’s display would be those using work accounts in the first place.
Whatever the case, the Google Meet app for Android Auto is on its way. We’ll keep an eye out for a wider rollout which, presumably, isn’t too far away.
